We chose Dunboyne for it’s handiness to Dublin and Dublin Zoo, but without the Dublin prices. The house and hotel are beautiful, with superb rooms and facilities. The staff were all very friendly and the food was superb. We stayed as a family of 4, with kids age 10 and 5.

The hotel is very nice, and the staff are helpful and friendly. We chose this as our final stop on a family odyssey, as a way to decompress before returning to “the real world.” The spa books up quickly, so if that is your objective, book early. If you pay for spa access, the sauna and pool are really a treat! The Irish breakfast buffet is the standard fare, but if you upgrade for 2 euros more, you can order pancakes or customized eggs. The food is good, and the bar provides a casual atmosphere free of too much pomp. There were weddings each night we were here so the rooms turn over fast. The village is a short walk away, and the pubs and restaurants are welcoming and give you an authentic feel. The bast part of this quiet hidden oasis is that you can still take the train into Dublin should you want to.
