Oldbridge House was built in the 1740’s by either John Coddington or his nephew Dixie Coddington.
It is believed to have been designed by George Darley, a local mason architect who also designed the renovated Dunboyne Castle, Dowth House and The Tholsel in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

Today, the ruins of Bective Abbey provide a maze of passageways with dead ends and interrupted staircases, all asking to be explored. Archaeological excavations led by Geraldine and Matthew Stout in 2009-2012 uncovered the remains of a large medieval barn, providing vital information on rural monastic life and farming methods in medieval Ireland.
Bective Abbey is free to visit and there is a visitor carpark.

Newgrange – World Heritage Site
Newgrange is a 5,200 year old passage tomb located in the Boyne Valley. Newgrange was built by a farming community that prospered on the rich lands of the Boyne Valley. Knowth and Dowth are similar mounds that together with Newgrange have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Hill of Tara is the jewel in the crown of the Boyne Valley landscape. A site that has been in use for more than 5000 years as a place of burial and assembly, it grew to fame as the legendary inauguration site of the ancient High Kings of Ireland. From its rolling slopes one can see all the way to the other great sites of the Boyne Valley, including Loughcrew Cairns, the Hill of Slane, Trim Castle and beyond. In later centuries it remained the focus of Gaelic identity and remains to this day the beating heart of Ireland.
